A bit about me

Here's a #throwback photo of me and my best mate. Just kidding, I had to bribe her.

I'm April, a digital designer, developer and marketer based in Chippendale, NSW.

In a nutshell, I help businesses with their digital strategy.

This often means anything from whitepaper design to building websites and landing pages to setting up social media ads - and I absolutely ❤ it!

After graduating from uni with a degree in Creative Writing (which comes in handy when I'm writing ad copy for clients and when I'm wisecracking on Facebook), I found myself on a path towards digital marketing as a copywriter and link builder. Working with both the marketing and development teams during these years made it easier for me to pursue and learn more about web development and online marketing.

Fast forward a couple of years and several website projects later, I moved to Australia to be with my husband and ended up working full-time as an Information Architect for a long-time client.

I got to lead the Design Team, which grew to a group of four and was focused on helping clients make the most of the Business Intelligence Analytics reporting tool, as well as support the marketing side of the business. It was an amazing experience where I got to learn from all parts of the business from sales and marketing to product development and consulting.

After five years, I realised that I wanted to focus and learn more about the part of the role I enjoyed the most - implementing digital campaigns with the marketing team.

So, here I am 🙂

But first, coffee!

Here's a glimpse of how I usually work through projects:

A chat

We sit down for coffee (or a beverage of your choice) and have a chat about what you need. We'll create some rough wireframes (and sitemaps) during brainstorming so we can focus on functionality.

Couple of mockups

I go back to my desk create high-fidelity prototypes so you can see how everything works together. This is the part where we get to have fun picking out colours and images!

Then I get cracking

And I'll check in regularly to keep you updated on progress, ask some questions and make sure that we are on the same page. All work is closely scrutinised and tested before it goes public.

And finally, cake!

The project goes live *hooray* and we celebrate while we keep an eye on any issues for a couple of weeks. After we've collected some data, we start thinking about minor tweaks to make sure everything is optimised.
